- The NYT editors are devious. They often include 5 or 6 words that *could* fit into a single category, forcing you to find the more specific grouping for the extras.
- Always look for all four categories before submitting your first guess. If you see five 'blue' words, one of them *must* belong to another hidden group.
Grouping Words by Parts of Speech Often, a category is simply 'Verbs meaning to look' or 'Adjectives for size'. If you're stuck, try to identify the 'grammar' of the board.
Breaking the words down into their linguistic functions often reveals the logic that isn't apparent at first glance.
